It’s Dumpling time

I was dying to eat dumplings a few days ago and i wanted to make the perfect filling for them, something different and unexpected but tangy and delicious, so this is what I came up with hope you like them.


Dumpling wrappers ( I got them at the chinese market)

1 cup of sweet potato chunks

1 cup of butternut squash chunks

1/2 cup of chopped onion

1/4 cup of chopped scallions

1 1/2 cup of water

1 tbsp. of tahini

1/4 cup of finely chopped walnuts

1 tsp. of salt (a little more according to your preference)

1/2 tsp of paprika

1/4 tsp. of ground cumin

1/4 tsp. of red pepper

1/4 tsp. of black pepper

1 tbsp. of olive oil

Sesame seeds to garnish


-Place the squash, sweet-potato, onions,peppers, spices and water over medium-high heat. Let it cook for about 10 minutes of until the veggies soften.

-Remove the veggies from the water and puree using a potato masher. (Don’t get rid of the water just yet). Add the tahini, walnuts, and scallions. Mix it well.

-Place a tsp. of the mix on a dumpling wrap, brush some water on the edges of the wrap so that they seal easily, fold in half and then fold in the edges.

-When all the dumplings are ready place them in boiling water( use the same water you used to cook you veggies, add a little more if needed, this will give them more flavor) and boil for 3 minutes.

-Remove from water and sprinkle with some sesame seeds and scallions:)
